After years of lockdowns and crushing loneliness, teenagers are living in a volatile, uncertain world. A growing number of young people admit that they feel like outsiders in search of a purpose, asking themselves, “What’s out there for me?”
“Folk” (working title) follows several intrepid individuals from Europe and the U.S. who go to the far edge of the earth to answer that question. All the way to arctic Norway, in fact, where they choose to spend a mind-boggling year at the Pasvik Folkehøgskole (“folk high school”).
Dropped in the wilderness and free of the pressures of technology and social media, students push their minds and bodies to the limit. And, far from material comforts and facing themselves for the first time, these seekers may just experience an unexpected, wondrous transformation.
