At nine-years old, pigtailed Emily Whitehead is doing exactly what you’re supposed to do on a boiling summer day: eating ice cream with sprinkles. What seems like the most ordinary of childhood past times, some would call a miracle. Only 2 years ago, Emily was dying quickly from leukemia. But Stand up to Cancer made it possible for Emily to become the first pediatric patient to receive a T-cell infusion. Today, she and her parents Tom and Kari live in the small tight-knit community of Philipsburg, PA, and she reminds everyone she meets just how precious childhood can be.
